My name is Alan and I am starting my first semester at UIUC in a Master's Civil and Environmental Engineering degree. I got Bachelor's from Purdue University that is two hours away from UIUC by car. I am from Kazakhstan in Central Asia. I look asian and I love when people are trying to guess where I am from and almost never succeed. I may be a little introverted when next to people I do not know, however, once I do get to know people and get close to them, I transform into a very fun person to hang out with. I love to troll my closest friends, yet I always let them know if they are okay with it prior to trolling :) . Really looking forward to meeting my fellow illinies (pls teach me how to spell/pronounce it) since I do not know anyone in Urbana-Champaign yet.

My name is Vera. I am a second-year graduate student in Library and Information Science program. I am from the Far East of Russia (Khabarovsk city). I like actively participate in extracurricular activities, meeting new people, and making friends. I love sport and fitness. Since 4 to 17 years old I was going in for rhythmic gymnastics, and achieved high results in this sport. Also, I am passionate about running, skating and playing volleyball. I traveled a lot in Russia and visited several foreign countries (Japan, South Korea, Finland, Czech Republic, Italy, and Spain).

I am Devashish. I am a Graduate student pursuing Information Management from India. This is my first time out of India and started in Fall 2018. I am crazy about food and love to try different cuisines from various places. I am an outgoing person who loves to hangout and share experiences. I like to make new friends and learn about them.

Hey everyone! I am Gaurav Dharra, a graduate student pursuing my Masters in Information Management starting Fall '18 semester. This will be my first semester in GLOBE and I am really excited to be a part of it. I really enjoy singing and playing the keyboard. I am learning Hindustani Classical music from the past 2 years. Besides, I like exploring and trying our various cuisines. I look forward to joining GLOBE to socialize with people of various cultures and enjoy some time off my work.

My name is Miriam, and I am from Hidalgo, Mexico. I came to UIUC two years ago to do a PhD in Nutritional Sciences. When I fist got here I joined GLOBE as and orange member. I like cooking, baking, watching movies, going out to dinner, coffee, taking my dog (Rocky) on long walks, and when the weather is nice doing outdoors activities. Through GLOBE I made some good friends, and I am hoping that now, as a Blue member, it will be the same.
